Meet Tim
Timothy Sherren is a San Francisco based guitarist and “lowercase c” composer who specializes in contemporary guitar, including both classical and electric.
Timothy has eclectic musical tastes and a wide-ranging performance history, spanning classical and electric guitars, world-premieres, improvisation, early music, and rock music. He has given premieres on electric guitar with Opera Southwest, and West Edge Opera, performed early music at the Opera San Jose, classical guitar at the Colburn School in LA and the Music by Women Festival in Mississippi, and has performed on electric guitar alongside his mentor and hero, Sergio Assad.
He performs in several new music ensembles, including the composer/multi-instrumentalist music outfit Love Can’t Save You, Padmè (LCSYP). LCSYP just released their ambitious new album “Funny Dancers.” Their previous album, “Far Calls” was called “decidedly unique,” and “absolutely gorgeous” by Cannock Chase Radio.
Upcoming projects include a debut solo electric guitar album, co-composing the score to feature film Last Dusk with longtime collaborator Justine Preston, new releases from Times New Romance, San Francisco indie-rock band Böyfriends, and ambient group Yimes.
He holds a bachelors of music in classical guitar from the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins, and masters and post-graduate degrees from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where he studied with Grammy award winning artist Sergio Assad.
He lives in San Francisco with his ceramicist wife and their two cats named Bean and Cheese.
