Carrie Smith is a guitarist and avid supporter of the arts in Oakland and the Bay Area. While receiving her master’s degree at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, she co-founded the Hot Air Music Festival, a student run marathon of new music, which is now in its eleventh season. Carrie is deeply committed to fostering relationships and building engagement to support the work of musicians, visual artists, and arts organizations in the Bay Area. She has interned with the San Francisco Contemporary Music Players and currently works with Oakland Art Murmur, a non-profit organization focusing on promoting the visibility, understanding, and vibrancy of visual art in Oakland. Carrie teaches classical guitar throughout the Bay Area, focusing on fostering a lifelong relationship with music in students of all ages. Recent performances included a tribute concert of music the great Joni Mitchell at the back room in Berkeley, as well a performance of contemporary art songs at the Center of New Music with her duo partner, Soprano Ann Moss.
