Meet Carrie

Carrie Smith is a classical guitarist and teacher who recently returned to her hometown of Toronto, Canada, after many years in the San Francisco Bay Area. While completing her master’s degree in guitar performance at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, she co-founded the Hot Air Music Festival, a student-run marathon of new music. Carrie is passionate about chamber music and contemporary repertoire, and has performed with the San Francisco Contemporary Music Players, among other ensembles. She completed Dreamland: Songs by Garry Eister (Angels Share Records, 2024), an album with soprano Ann Moss featuring Eister’s songs for voice and guitar. She has also appeared on Moss’s albums Lifeline (2022) and Now I Am (2025), playing a 19th-century guitar on the latter. Carrie teaches classical guitar to students of all ages, encouraging each student to develop their own musical interests and build a lifelong relationship with music.
